Top 5 gadget gifts for men

These gadgets could be something for yourself if you're a guy, or it could be an ideal gift for your dad, husband or boyfriend if you're a girl. These are entirely my points of view, so check it out.

This list is in no particular order.
5. Sony Playstation 3

Sony'3 playstation 3 was almost launched almost 1 year after the launch of Microsoft's xbox 360. Sony's greatly anticipated playstation 3 was launched with 4 models of 20GB, 40GB, 60GB and 80GB. Only the 60GB and 80GB models are capable of playing playstation 2 games. The 20GB model has already been phased out and it is only a matter of time before the 60GB model is phased out too.

The Sony playstation 3 comes with a blu-ray player making it one of the cheapest blu-ray players in the market. This itself should be a good reason to lay your hands on this baby especially since Toshiba has exited from the HD market making blu-ray the undisputed champion in this market.

The only problem with the Playstation 3 is the unavailability of a large selection of games. But in general the playstation 3 has an excellent graphics engine and hardcore gamers would definitely enjoy owning one.

4. iPhone 3G

Since the introduction of the first iPhone by Apple, the mobile phone industry has been revolutionized. Many competitors have tried to follow suit but with limited success. It is interesting that a company such as Apple which does not make mobile phones as part of its core business is a trend setter in this industry.

Following the success of its initial iPhone Apple has recently released the iPhone 3G early this month. Apple received the same kind of response that it received for its 1st generation iPhone - phenomenal.

The design is pretty much the same as the original iPhone except for the fact that the back cover is now in plastic rather than aluminum. This apparently has improved call quality and performs much better than the original iPhone. Some of the improvements on the iPhone 3G over its predecessor include:

- 3G data rates (obviously)
- GPS (although with no navigation features)
- Headphone jack is flush with the body, hence no need for a separate adapter while using your favorite headphones
- Contact list is now searchable
- Suite of new applications including ebay.com
- Scientific calculator included
- Ability to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook

This is definitely a cool gadget to have.

3. Sennheiser PXC 450 noise cancellers

Noise cancelling headphones are becoming more popular with more and more people using their iPods during their business travels and vacations. Active noise canceling headphones effectively cut out external noise to a certain level so that you can have hours of uninterrupted music whether you are in the plane, train or even in a bus.

Even though Bose has been enjoying a lot of hype especially with their quiet comfort series, I still believe that they are obscenely priced. Instead check out some of the Sennheiser noise cancellation headphones which perform really well too. It has up to 90% active noise compensation which is pretty impressive by any standards. The unit is foldable and easy to carry around. It's also designed in such a way that it fits comfortably for most users. A worthwhile investment for all those on the move.

2. Garmin Nuvi 770

GPS navigation gadgets are gaining more traction than ever. Whether people need it or not is a different story altogether, but it is definitely a cool gadget to have especially when you are driving. No need to ask for directions and that's particularly useful if you are a man. The ego is king when it comes to driving for men.

The Garmin Nuvi 770 GPS unit is one of the latest versions which is significantly thinner than its predecessors. It has an excellent navigation algorithm as well.

Some of the features that are offered are:

-TMC Traffic Module to help avoid traffic congestion and road blocks
-Bluetooth support so you can make hands free calls on your mobile phone via the Nuvi 770
-FM Transmitter so voice directions and MP3 audio can be heard through your car stereo speakers
-Transatlantic maps of Europe and North America (250W has just Europe)
-Multiple destination routing, which includes automatic sorting to provide an efficient route for things like deliveries or sales calls
-Trip log which records where you’ve been on the map
-Marking of your last position when the unit is turned off (useful if your car is parked in a huge car park such as an amusement park or shopping mall and you can’t remember where the car is parked)
-“Where am I” feature that gives your current location, nearest address, nearest intersection, along with quick access to Points of Interest (POIs) for the nearest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations
-MP3 player

1. Macbook Air

Another Apple product review this one. This is the Macbook Air laptop that was recently released by Apple. This is one beauty which is thin and sexy. To achieve this size, Apple had to obviously sacrifice a lot of stuff. But Apple did manage to power this baby with a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

The 13 inch screen display looks crisp and crystal clear. Despite its size, the Apple Macbook Air feels solid and sturdy in your hands. Just don't expect a cdrom drive with the Apple Macbook Air. This laptop is built for frequent travellers and not for normal usage. Apple expects you to purchase a Macbook Air as a second laptop and use it specifically when you're travelling. But overall, this is a cool laptop to own!

Men are so hard to buy for, even if you know what they are into. My husband likes his gadgets but I have very little knowledge of what i'm looking for when it comes to them.

So I’ve decided to scour the Internet for some inspiration and came across a website that specialises in gadgets, named gizoo. The only problem I have now is finding something that he would like!!
